Yolanda Griffin's Obituary
Yolanda Rena Griffin was born May 19, 1975 to the parents of Dorothy Jean James and William Thomas Griffin in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Jefferson Davis High School. She continued her education at Houston Community College where she received her Associates degree in Business Administration.
She gave her life to Christ at a young age at Bellfort Church of Christ, and she actively became a member of True Light Trinity Christian Center later in her adult life. She quickly took on multiple responsibilities and became the “Go to” Member of the church. She spent the last 15+ years working for Keystone Property Taxes along with her mentor Lee Dudinsky, in which she met and made some lifelong friends.
In the last 8 years, Yolanda took up the hobby of traveling. She has blessed the places of Dallas, Austin, San Antiono, Nacogdoches, Johnson City, New Orleans, Orlando, Miami, Denver, New York, Memphis, Cancun, Cozumel, Jamaica and Hawaii. She spent her time going on multiple cruises, weekends at Exotic Zoos, and even going to Disney World with her Grandbaby Alayna.
Yolanda was simply that person. She was “The Cook”, the person who feed everyone even if you were not hungry, or didn’t come to eat. She even had her own special season that we called “Crack Seasoning”. In which she would put on her famous fried chicken.
Yolanda The Beautician. Blessing everyone’s hair, with all types of hairstyles, but braids were her specialty. She would try all her special made products on her sisters, nieces and daughter’s hair. She took pride in growing people’s hair to healthy states and lengths.
Yolanda The Party Host. She loved to party. She loved seeing her family and friends in her presence enjoying life. She loved to dance and put on a good event. She would do everything for the event including planning, cooking, and decorating. She was there to make sure everyone was having a great time, with a smile on her face.
Yolanda The Comedian. She was always ready for a good joke, prank, or just simply being sarcastic. With her infectious laugh, and witty comments. Yolanda would say things like “GO TEXANS” in a house full of Cowboys fans. Even though her knowledge of football was limited. She would tell a joke and started laughing before anyone got the joke. She was a funny lady.
Yolanda The Jewelry Queen. She was always ready to go with her hands full or rings. Her ears filled with earrings and her wrist full of charms, diamonds, and watches. Even down to her ankles with multiple anklets on each leg.
Yolanda That Person. She loved to be there for people. She was the person you go to when you needed a plan, someone to talk to, some real advice, or just a shoulder to cry and lean on. She was the person who loved everyone. She was a nurturer. She also knew how to keep it real and did not play. When she put her foot down, everyone listened. She was
our emotional Gangsta.
Yolanda leaves behind to cherish her memories, sisters Tiachia, Alisia, Tina, and Tasha. Her Daughter Monisha (Christopher) Griffin. Granddaughter Alayna. Nieces Courtney, Ajee, Ayah, Aria. As well as a host of family and friends. Preceding her in passing, Parents Dorothy and William, brother Darrell and FurBaby Missy.
