Nieves Galvan Jr.'s Obituary
It is with deep, and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Nieves Galvan Jr., who lost his fight to cancer on April 17, 2018, at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Nieves was born in Brownsville, Texas, on November 29, 1955, but spent most of his life in Houston, Texas.
He enjoyed carpentry and worked for Spring Branch I.S.D. for 28 years as a carpenter and later as a building inspector before retiring in 2007. He was an avid sports fan and spent any chance he could out on the golf course trying to stay under par.
Nieves was extremely loving and proud of his son, Charlie Galvan. He is also survived by his brothers: Greg Galvan, Benjamin Galvan (Laura), Richard Galvan, and Julio Galvan (Maryann), and sister Annie Galvan; his uncle Gilbert Botello; as well as his loving nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Nieves Galvan and his mother Minnie De La Garza.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 5:00PM, with rosary service at 6:00PM, until 8:00 PM at the Hardin Family Funeral Home, 9034 Long Point Rd, Houston, Texas 77055. Visiting services will continue on Saturday, April 21, 2018, with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a cancer society of your choice in Nieves Galvan’s name.
