Thelma B White's Obituary
Thelma B White, 90, of Katy, TX passed away on Sunday Dec 1, 2024. She was born in Buford, GA August 15, 1934. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank White; parents Eva and Alvin Burel; brother Winston Burel, and great grandson Luke White. Mrs. White is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Marsha White, Katy, TX; son and daughter-in-law Lee and Annie White, Sugarland, TX;
grandchildren, Brian White, Pearland, TX; John White, Houston, TX; Daniel White, San Antonio, TX;
Melissa Raynor, Syracuse, NY; Megan Kaufman, Bellaire, TX; Michelle West, College Station, TX, 8 or 9
great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, June Krumrine, State College, PA, nephew Ronnie Burel, Buford, GA,
niece, Judi Kern, State College, PA, Jerry Krumrine, Julian, PA and several cousins.
Thelma graduated from Buford High School and North Georgia College. Upon graduation, she accepted a
job at Penn State University commensurate with her major, home economics/nutrition and moved there
where she met and married her husband. Upon marriage and moving to Muncy, PA, she helped nearly
70 years in various farming operations and management of Muncy Farms. Subsequently, she moved to
Katy, TX to be closer to family and grow relationships with the younger generations.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Pennsdale, PA where she also served with
the United Methodist Women; served with the Muncy TWP Volunteer Fire Co; member of the
Susquehanna Striders Association where she logged over 20,000 miles; member of the Muncy Historical
Society; volunteer at the Muncy Valley/UPMC Hospital for 20 yrs. She was known for her
baking/cooking skills and providing homemade bread, cookies, pies, etc. for various events and fund
raisers; was a great seamstress and made clothing and curtains; liked early American
antiques/collectables, had a great sense-of-humor and loved dogs. She was sweet and had a servant
heart.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Thelma White’s name to the Pennsdale
Trinity United Methodist Church (Memorial Fund), 658 Village Road, Pennsdale, PA 17756 or to The
Gatehouse, c/o Susquehanna Health Foundation, 1001 Grampian Boulevard, Williamsport, PA 17701-
1946.
A memorial service will be conducted early 2025 in TX for family/close friends. An interment TBD will
subsequently be at the Halls Cemetery at Halls Station, PA.
