Susan Cogburn Wright's Obituary
Susan valiantly fought the tongue cancer that plagued her since February 2024 with a smile on her face and a song in her heart until the music died on January 16, 2026. Wearing her signature pink framed glasses and beaming with optimism, Susan was a source of inspiration and hope for everyone she encountered during the course of her treatment at MD Anderson.
Susan was born on March 2, 1955 in San Antonio, Texas. She was a 1973 graduate of Abilene Cooper High School and attended Southwestern University in Georgetown where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta. She married Lennon C. Wright on May 24, 1975 and celebrated their 50 years of marriage in 2025. For years she had a cartoon on refrigerator that showed a woman cooking over a fire in a cave that was captioned "I hate this kitchen!". She designed her dream kitchen and thanks to Russell Haws and All Star Construction, Inc. she was able to see her kitchen remodeled according to her wishes before she left us.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Bettie Cogburn and is survived by her husband Lennon and sons Christopher (Ann) and Taylor (Paige) and three grandchildren, Pearl, Colt and Lula. She is also survived by her brother Curtis (Cinnamon) and sister Courtney (Brian). A private burial service was conducted at Glenwood Cemetery. A celebration of Susan's life will be held in "Susu's Kitchen" later this spring.
