Shatina Roberts' Obituary
ShaTina Rena Roberts was born in Houston, Texas to Johnell Allen & Stephanie Taylor on January 5, 1982. In 2000, ShaTina graduated from Kashmere High School. She loved God and joined Little Union Baptist Church and rededicated her life in 2016 at Whosoever Will Gospel Church, under the leadership of Pastor Bobby R. Winslow.
After graduation, Tina began a longstanding career as a home health care provider to clients, family, and close friends. She was passionate about ensuring that a fair, quality of life was afforded to those in her care. ShaTina was not one to mince words and made sure to effectively advocate for those who had entrusted her with their health and personal affairs. Tina also found her skillset as an independent contractor with tax company Smiley’s Tax Services-the start of her entrepreneurship journey.
ShaTina truly enjoyed a good time. She loved gathering with her family and friends; appreciated a good conversation over good food (TGI Friday’s being her favorite); loved a good laugh, music, and pampering herself (she did not play about her hair and make-up). ShaTina, affectionally known as “Candy”, was also a diehard member of her family’s trail riding club, PoBoy Ryders. However, nothing compared to the love she had for her family and close friends, and nothing superseded the love that she had for her husband and children. ShaTina was excited about having recently experienced her first cruise and was looking forward to partaking in new adventures. Tina was one to always admit that she wasn’t perfect but each day she strived to be good to those who were good to her. She was a straighter shooter that loved hard and would give you the shirt off her back. Candy had a smile that could light up a room and a laugh that was so contagious; sharp, witty, goofy, and could go toe to toe, joke for joke with the best of them.
ShaTina & Simon Virgil loved each other for twenty years and partnered in the rearing of two children, Lawler Johnson Jr (23) & Kaiden Virgil (5), along with their bonus baby, Tamia Reed (13), from her best friend who preceded her in death, Tamika Reed.
ShaTina was also preceded in death by her cousin/brother Jaleel Johnson. She leaves to cherish her memory, Grandma Helen and Grandma Carolyn McDonald; her husband, Simon Virgil of Houston, Texas; three children, Lawler Johnson Jr (NeNe), Kaiden Virgil, and Tamia Reed; mother, Stephanie Taylor; father, Johnell Allen; sister, Shanika Henry; niece, Skylar Manning and nephew, William Manning Jr; mother-in-law, Sharon Virgil; sister-in-laws, Debbie Hawkins (Kenneth), Kathleen Barnes, and Donna Wilson (Ron); along with a host of family and friends.
They say that you can’t pick your family but you can choose your friends that become family; With that being said, Tina held a special place in her heart for her favorite Uncle, Shawn Roberts, who was more like a father to her; Mama Mikki Sanders, Diana Gooden, her cousins Quincy Latin (Aniya) & Tyketria who she referred to as her siblings and her bonus sisters Shay Winslow (Chyniah), Quiara Miller (Martavis), and ESPECAILLY, her best friend, confidant, rider, sidekick, and ghetto twin, Tamike St. Jules (JaCoby, Brianna).
