Sharon Eloise Owens' Obituary
Sharon Eloise was born on November 15, 1954 in Livingston, TX to the late Effen and Hazel Parker. After the death of her father, she relocated to Houston with her mother and two siblings. She graduated from Kashmere Senior High School in 1973. In 1974 she married Frank Virgil. To this union four children were born: Siteria, Derrick, Simon, and LaKisha. After many years together, the marriage was dissolved. She later met and married Raymond S. Owens Sr. in 2000. To this union no children were born. However, she gained five bonus sons and one bonus daughter that she loved and cared for as her own: Raymond Jr., Anthony, Darrell, Adrian, Damain, and Renee.
Sharon had an unwavering love for God and wasn’t ashamed to tell anyone about the goodness of the Lord. She was baptized at an early age and remained steadfast in her work for Christ throughout the years. She was a devout member of New Faith Baptist Church NE where she served in several capacities throughout her membership including kitchen lead, a choir member, an usher, and a member of the Pastor’s Aide committee until her health began to fail.
On September 24, 2022 God called his humble servant home. She is preceded in death by her parents: Effen Parker and Hazel Woodberry; her stepfather George Woodberry; her brother Kelvin Parker; her sister Eunice Parker, and her daughter in law Shatina Virgil. She leaves behind to cherish her precious memory: her devoted husband Raymond S. Owens Sr; two sons: Derrick Parker (LaShun) and Simon Virgil; two daughters: Siteria Yarborough and LaKisha Shorts (Cedric); five grandchildren: Taya, Taylor, Brooklyn, Khloe, and Kaiden; her loving sister Kathy Porter (Hilliard); her “forever sister in law” Versie Alexander; life-long friends: Rowena Henderson, Kimberly Malbroue, Mary Shelvin and Helen Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly.
