Sasan Elise Cook's Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce Sasan Elise Stewart Cook, beloved wife,
sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday,
December 14, 2024. She was sixty-two.
Sasan was born on October 19, 1962, in New Iberia, Louisiana to Judith Ann Petersen
and James Rush Stewart, Jr., who preceded her in death. She lived the majority of her
life in Houston where she graduated from Robert E Lee High School in 1981 and
earned her degree from Houston Baptist University. Sasan dedicated her life to shaping
young minds as a first-grade teacher in the Spring Branch Independent School District
for 30 years, where her warmth, patience, and kindness touched the lives of countless
students and families.
Sasan shared twenty-seven wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Alton Ray
Cook, Jr. who was her steadfast partner and source of joy. She is lovingly remembered
by her sisters; Sharyn Stewart Robinson and husband, Daniel Robinson and Pam
Stewart Schmidt and husband, James Schmidt, Jr. as well as her devoted nieces and
nephew: Elizabeth Ann Robinson Kendrick and husband David Kendrick, Emily
Robinson Walter and husband Trevor Walter, Christian Schmidt, Mackenzie Schmidt
and her great niece and nephew, Margaret and Reeves Kendrick.
Sasan lived a Christian life and left a legacy of love, service, and devotion to her family
and community. She was a member of Second Baptist Church for 47 years. Sasan will
be remembered for her radiant smile, kind heart, and unwavering commitment to those
she cared for.
A graveside celebration of Sasan’s life to be held at three o’clock in the afternoon on
Monday, the 30th of December, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway.
