Ronald Jay Lopez's Obituary
Ronald Jay Lopez passed away on Sunday, April 19,2020 after a long battle following major strokes in 2016. He was 55.
Ronnie was born July 19, 1964 in Ft. Sill Army Hospital in Oklahoma. Ronnie grew up San Antonio, TX living on Ft. Sam Army Base for much of his childhood. He graduated from Roosevelt HS in San Antonio, TX. Much of his life he worked as a printing press operator, and then later in life as a Recovery Support Specialist and house manager for House of Extra Measures.
On January 4, 2006 Ron turned is life over to a power greater them himself, from day one in the rooms of AA, NA and CA Ron was an active member. He talked the talk and walked the walk ALWAYS wanting to be of service to others. Anyone who met Ron in the rooms grew to love him and his kind heart. He credits Oxford House (Loma Park) or teaching him to live life on life’s terms. He also was an active participant and team member for many ACTS retreats with St. Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church of San Antonio, TX.
Ronald was preceded in death by both parents Robert and Alice Lopez (Rodriquez) as well as older brother Robert Lopez Jr.
He is survived by, son Nicholas Lopez, daughter Allyson Lopez, grandsons Jax and Ace Lopez, daughter in-law Jessi MacManus, wife Amanda Lopez, sisters Joyce and Cheryl, and his two closest friends Jacy Conn Castaneda and Ralph Fabrizio. As well as many extended family members, and friends he considered family.
Unfortunately, due to the current world circumstances we are unable to hold a memorial service for Ron at this time.
We hope to be able to have a celebration of life event in July at Woodlawn Lake in San Antonio, TX. Details to be shared later.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in his name to House of Extra Measures to sponsor a man in need of recovery services. This was close to his heart for many reasons.
