Reda Faye Crossno Templeton's Obituary
Reda Faye Crossno Templeton passed away peacefully on May 15, 2023, at the age of 92. Born to Alvan and Minnie Ellis Crossno on November 13, 1930, in Louann, Arkansas, Reda’s family moved to Clarkwood, Texas when she was 5 years old, and lived in that area until she married Matthew Jerome (M.J.) Templeton in 1947, at which time they moved to Corpus Christi, and later, to Houston. Reda and M.J. had five children, however, sadly, their second child died at one month of age. Reda absolutely loved her family and her friends and wouldn’t miss her weekly bridge games with many of her life-long friends. We can picture them all now in Heaven, dealing another hand of bridge and laughing together!
Reda was preceded in death by her husband, M.J.; her baby, Frances Elizabeth; and her oldest son, Steven Jerome, as well as her loving mother, father, sisters and brother. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will be cherished by her children, Brenda Templeton, Kelly Templeton, and Lynne Hackedorn (Jimmy); daughter-in-law, Penny Templeton; grandchildren, George Buschardt, Matt Buschardt (Ashley), Steve Bishop (Colleen), and Jessica Taylor; her great-grandchildren, Taylor, Faith, Samantha and Madison Buschardt; great-great grandchildren, Skylar Buschardt and Mason and Levi McConnell, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Never did a sweeter, kinder more loving woman live. We didn't realize this growing up because she was our Mom and we thought that was just normal. But as we grew up, we came to realize that she was someone very special. Someone who loved us completely and unconditionally and oh how she loved our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. And how they loved her. Our Mother gave our children the assurance that they were all individually loved and cherished for who they were. They all knew they could be completely open and honest with her about their feelings about us as parents and she had no judgment and was always kind and caring. All of us knew we were loved no matter what. Who could anyone ask for a more gracious blessing?
Our Mother loved her Lord Jesus and always believed that in dying, she would have eternal life. This joyful knowledge was reflected in her kind and loving spirit, and this blessed assurance sustains all of her family.
We extend our deep appreciation to all her caregivers and friends at The Plaza at the Buckingham, where Reda lived since 2015. Thank you all for your kindness, care and love for Reda throughout the years. You always made her feel like “the Queen of the Buckingham”.
A celebration of Reda’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22nd at First Methodist Church, 1320 Main Street, Houston, Texas 77002, with a reception to follow in the church’s Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to contribute to a charity of your choice.
