Peter Abdul Swaray's Obituary
Peter Abdul Kortor Swaray was born on April 17,1948 to Mr. Alimamy Fodie - Cole Swaray and
Madam Mellie Swaray Nee Massaquoi, in Yonni City, Kpanga Kabonde Chiefdom, Pujehun
District, Sierra Leone. He attended C.E. School Massam, Holly Family Primary School, and St.
Paul's Secondary School, Pujehun. He was the first student admitted to that Secondary School,
and his admission number was #1 at that institution. He also attended the St. Edward's
Secondary School in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Mr. Swaray worked at the Bank of Sierra Leone as a Banker in Freetown, and also worked as a
Banker in Monrovia, Liberia before emigrating to the United States of America. He initially lived
in Boston, Massachusetts, where he attended Boston State College and graduated with a B.S.
degree in Business Administration. He also obtained a Master’s degree in Business
Administration from the University of New Hampshire, in Durham, New Hampshire. He worked
for Philip Morris Tobacco Company in Boston from 1981 to 1982, and as a Hotel Manager in
New Jersey and New York City in New York. He moved to Houston, Texas in 2005 where he
lived till he passed away.
He was a member of Tegloma Federation International (New York Chapter) and served as
President of the Chapter for one term. He was also a member of the Sierra Leone People's
Party (SLPP) in Houston for many years, and the Pujehun District Descendants Association
(PDDA). His favorite sports were Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis and Soccer (Football). He was
very respectful, honest, resilient, easy going, and nice to everyone he met. He loved and lived
for his family.
Mr. Peter Abdulai Kortor Swaray is survived by his WIFE, Mrs. Elizabeth Jorbay Swaray, and
CHILDREN: Justin Sheku, Anouska, Charles, and Hannah. He is survived by several
grandchildren.
