Paulette Mooneyham Clayman's Obituary
Paulette Mooneyham Clayman was born on June 9, 1946 in Mount Carmel, Tennessee to Mabel Townes Mooneyham and Thomas Franklin Mooneyham, Sr. She was the youngest of four siblings, Tom, Bob, and Betty Jo. She was close to her mother, active in her church, and volunteered as a candy striper at the local hospital.
She met her husband, William Edgar Clayman, Jr. in Kingsport, Tennessee while competing in archery. They were married on September 28, 1974. Two years later they moved to Texas and celebrated the birth of their daughter, Jami Mari Clayman.
Paulette was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ who loved her family, her friends and her pets. In her free time she enjoyed calligraphy, painting ceramics, cross stitch, and raising violets and orchids. She was an avid reader, liked to travel to new places, and visit art museums. Paulette especially loved a good action movie or watching the latest on the Hallmark Channel.
Her career included work at Tennessee Eastman Kodak, Warren Press, and thirty-three years within Alief ISD. Paulette’s most impactful role was in the Career Center at Alief Elsik High School where she passionately connected students with scholarships, grants, and career opportunities.
Paulette will be remembered for her quick wit, her laughter, and her smile. She died on August 14, 2019 in Houston, Texas with her family by her side. She is survived by her husband, Ed, their daughter Jami, Jami’s partner Dave Dulin, Paulette’s three cats, and lots of friends. A celebration of her life will be held soon.
