Nina Matta's Obituary
Nina Matta, age 74, lost her battle with kidney disease and diabetes on Wednesday, March 6, 2014. She leaves behind her husband, Kamal Matta, her sons Sam, his wife, Cindy and their sons, Ryan and Joseph, and son, George and his wife Jessica and their daughter Isabella, and scores of friends and family. She has touched so many lives in a positive way and was grateful to her loved ones until she drew her last breath.
Nina was born April 18, 1939 in Lebanon into a family of four brothers and two sisters. She’s preceded in death by brothers Nazih and Brahim and her parents. Although she lost her battle in the physical world she’s headed to a pain free place with no dialysis, hospitals or suffering. Nina had many passions but top of the list was entertaining and cooking for friends and family. She was a dedicated mom, devoted wife, tremendous sister and loving grandma. She was a giver, selfless, devoted and always putting others first. She had a zest for life and an unrelenting spirit. She loved to travel and got around on the bwere her primary focus. She looked after her mom Victoria when her health deteriorated. She emigrated to the U.S. after the Lebanese Civil War and grew extremely close to her brothers here. She belonged to another family, The Houston Arabic Church and was loved by many there. Nina will be missed by so many and surely heaven is rejoicing today.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 3:30pm and a funeral service celebrating Nina’s life will follow at 4:30pm, in the Chapel at Hardin Family Funeral Home, 9034 Long Point Rd, Houston TX 77055.
