Michael David McBride's Obituary
Michael David McBride, Sr., 77, of Houston, Texas, peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday January 25th.
Mike was born on February 9. 1945 to Franklin and Hazel McBride in Palm Beach, Florida. His family moved to Delaware, Ohio shortly thereafter, which is where he spent most of his childhood years. Mike graduated from Rutherford B. Hayes High School in Delaware, Ohio in 1963. He briefly attended Ohio Wesleyan University before enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he served proudly and honorably from 1964-1968, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. As a Radio Intercept Analysis Specialist, he was stationed in the Philippines and then Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio.
He married Joanne Louise Miller in July of 1968, and they had two children, Michael Jr. (Mickey) and Melissa. After short stints in Ohio and San Antonio, they settled in the Houston area in 1974, where they raised their family. Mike spent most of his work career as a real estate broker and licensing instructor at multiple different real estate schools. Through the years, Mike and Joanne have enjoyed being members of Metropolitan Baptist Church and Houston Northwest Church. In addition to being Grandpa/E-pa to four beloved grandchildren, his passions included any and all sports, particularly Houston teams, Baylor, and THE Ohio State Buckeyes.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Joanne; his children, Michael D. McBride, Jr (Lisa), and Melissa McBride (Mike); 4 grandchildren, Ashlyn Cole; Lauren, Jack, and Connor McBride; sister Patsy Tagg, brother Doug McBride, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Hazel McBride, father Franklin McBride; brother Kenneth McBride, and sister Dorothy "Dot" Jones.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday February 7, 2023, at Houston Northwest Church (19911 State Hwy 249), with a short reception/visitation afterwards, followed by an interment ceremony at Houston National Cemetery at 1:30pm (10410 Veterans Memorial Drive).
