Mary Sue (Elam) Walker's Obituary
Mary Sue (Elam) Walker of Conroe, Texas, peacefully went to her heavenly reward on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the age of 93 while listening to her favorite Christian hymns.
She was born in Conroe on January 17, 1930, and lived in the Conroe-Willis area all her life. She was the salutatorian of her 1947 Conroe High School class.
Mary Sue was active in living her Christian life, a member of Conroe’s First Baptist Church for nearly 80 years, a Sunday School and Training Union teacher and director, volunteer, and an energetic prayer warrior and encourager, supporting and guiding her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Roger Walker, her brother, Frank Elam, and her parents, Michael H. and Flossie Mae Elam.
Mary is survived by her children:
Mike Walker and wife Genia, and children John Walker and wife Traci, David Walker and wife Terri, and Rebecca Steed and husband Brandon;
Rick Walker and wife Annie, and children Jesse Walker and wife Alyssa, Sarah Walker, and Travis Walker and wife Taylor;
Susan Dowies and husband Doug, and children Kaitlin Barber and husband Colton, Nicole Moore, and Tyler Moore;
17 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
She will be honored in a service at First Baptist Church, 600 N Main Street in Conroe at 10 AM on Friday, September 22, with family visitation at 9 AM followed by a lunch reception at 11 AM and a graveside service at Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery at 1 PM. Grandchildren will serve as Pallbearers.
Flowers may be delivered to First Baptist Church in Conroe Friday, September 22, between 8-10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Samaritan’s Purse or The Gideons.
