Martha Ann Worthen's Obituary
Martha Ann “Pat” Worthen, 81 of Dayton passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019 in Baytown, Texas. She was born on July 17, 1938 in New York, New York to parents, Albert Edward Dunstan and Mary Olah Parker Dunstan. When she was born her father gave her a nickname because he said she didn’t look like a “Martha” so he called her Pat. She was Pat from that day until the day she passed away. Pat was the oldest sibling and somewhat of the favorite of her daddy. The other kids knew this and were perfectly ok with it. Pat was deeply loved and respected by her brother and sisters. She was a very hard headed person who always got her way but was at the same time a very lovable and loyal sister. Pat is preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas Ray Deckert; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by her loving husband, Jay Wayne Worthen; children, Anna Marie Deckert, Michael Allen Deckert and wife Rita, Helga Deckert, Nancy Coffee and husband Robert and Chris Jon-David Worthen and wife Jenna; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; sister, Willie Weemes and husband Billy; sisters-in-law, Marie Evans and husband Skip , Jeanie Nulph and husband Lewis and many numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Pat along with her husband, Jay are members of Grace Community Baptist Church in Dayton. As a young girl Pat taught herself to play the piano; as she said “By The Grace Of God” and used her talent for many years playing the piano in many different churches around Dayton and Liberty. It was only as she got older the she was not able to play because of Arthritis. Pat loved Jesus and served him all of her life. She met her husband Jay Wayne while she was the acting pianist at Trinity Baptist Church in Dayton. She later married Jay Wayne and lived in Dayton for over 31 years. Pat was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family very much and will be greatly missed.
