Margaret Beth Simmons' Obituary
Margaret Beth Simmons, 66, of Dayton passed away on December 15, 2020 in the home of her loving sister. Margaret was born on May 7, 1954 in Houston, Texas to MJ and Mary Beth Simmons. She loved people and was a natural caregiver for both the young and old. She served as a nursery worker and Sunday school teacher for the 2-3 year old class for 40 years at Calvary Baptist and Grace Community Baptist Church helping give many children a foundation in Christ. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and eating (but not fruit). Some of her specialties included chicken and dumplin’s, candied yams, pork chops, and chocolate meringue pies. She also enjoyed making wreaths and spending time with her dog companion Dotty. However, her favorite past time was spoiling her nieces and nephews and aggravating her favorite (or only) brother-in-law. She has been a member of the Grace Community Baptist Church since its inception and she loved her church family. Margaret had a servant heart and would do anything for anyone. We loved her dearly and will miss her immensely. She is preceded in death by her parents, MJ and Mary Simmons and her brother, John Simmons. She is survived by her sister, Rosemary Brothers and husband WT; sister-in-law, Susan Simmons; nephews MJ Brothers, Adam Saffel and wife Aline, Nicholas Saffel and wife Marina, Philip Saffel and wife Amanda; nieces Katherine and Anna Brothers, Lindsay Hanton and husband Shaun; and numerous great nieces, nephews, and cousins. A visitation will be held Thursday, December 17, 2020 from 6-8 pm at Grace Community Baptist Church in Dayton, Texas. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 11 am, with Pastor Marvin Denison officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton, Texas. Pallbearers for Margaret will be Beau Barnard, Billy Wayne Cox, Bobby Cox Jr., David Graham Sr., Bubba Graves, Larry McNulty, Bryan Roy, and Ken Thomas.
