Linda Anne Jones' Obituary
Linda Anne Jones was the daughter of Mary Jo Arnold Jones and Marion Dalton Jones and was born January 22, 1948 in Seymour, Texas. She died January 2, 2017 in Houston, Texas. She lived in Houston all of her adult life. Linda was a proud member of the LGBT community in Houston. She volunteered in a number of local Democratic political campaigns, volunteered as a practical nurse during Houston's HIV epidemic, and served as President of the Houston National Organization for Women.
She graduated with a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Houston. She worked throughout her life. Late in life she worked as a substitute teacher until just a few months before her death. Being a mother meant the world to Linda. She treasured children and was a fierce advocate for them. She was fun-loving and participated in many activities with children such as riding roller coasters, swimming at the beach, picnicking, or going to the zoo or aquarium. “Her Christian faith sustained her and It deepened through the years. She prayed daily for her family, friends, and the state of the world."
She leaves behind her daughter Ashley Walden and Ashley's fiancée Chris Bonsky and grandsons Jonah Byrom and Matthew Bonsky; her sister Pam, brother-in-law John, and nephew Michael Indo from Houston, Texas; her sister Karen, brother-in-law Denton, niece Kate, and nephew Tim Langridge from Humble, TX; brother David, sister-in-law Maria, and nephews Greg and Nick from Austin, Texas; aunt Mary Alice Arnold from Houston and five Arnold cousins and their families; Godmother to Ashley and Linda's close friend, Chris McCarty; various "adopted" nieces; and many friends and other family members. She tried hard throughout her life to develop and maintain loving relationships with friends and family.
