Leo Vernon Butler's Obituary
Leo Vernon Butler, Sr., 77, of Pasadena, passed away on March 20, 2014. He was born on March 12, 1937 in Houston, Texas to parents, Gilbert L. Butler and Katie Mae Lowe Butler. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia Deloach and brother Gilbert L. Butler. Leo was in law enforcement for most of his life. He had worked in the Fort Bend County Sheriffs Department and the Harris County Sheriffs Department before joining the Houston Police Department in 1974. Before his retirement in 2004, Lieutenant Leo V. Butler was last assigned to the Tactical Operations Division. His most memorable experience was when he was assigned to work in the K-9 division. He enjoyed working with the many police dogs throughout the years. He is survived by his wife, Tina Butler; children, Leo Vernon Butler, Jr. Kristie Butler and Kimberly Hampshire and her husband Bart; step-children, Sandra Childress and her husband Clint, Armando Garcia and David Garcia and his wife Sandy; grandchildren, Shelby Lemgruber, Braya Fuqua, Blaine Bird, Kandace Butler and Christopher Simons; step-grandchildren, Amanda Esquivel and fiance Dustin Murphy, David Garcia, Jacob Garcia,and Adrianna Childress and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 24, 2014 from 10 o'clock in the morning until service time at noon in the chapel of Hardin Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday in the Chapel with Chaplain Monty Montgomery officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
