Larryy Edward Lee's Obituary
Larry Edward Lee, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and proud Texan, passed away quietly in his
hometown of Houston, Texas, at the age of 89.
Born on July 30, 1935, in Houston, Larry was a lifelong resident of the city he loved. He graduated
with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University, a proud Aggie
whose dedication to precision and problem-solving defined both his education and his long career as
a mechanical engineer.
Larry married the love of his life, Katherine Lucille Akin, on December 22, 1954, in Houston, Texas.
Together they shared a devoted partnership filled with love, family, and projects.
Larry also served his country with honor in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1960.
Larry was predeceased by his wife Lucille (1935-2018) and his son, Aubry Ashton Lee (1957-1982).
He is survived by his son Lindsey Lee, Lindsey’s wife Heide, and their four children: Michael Ashton
Lee, “Amelia” Andrew Fitzhugh Lee, Edward Cadman Lee, and Benjamin Chester Lee.
Larry was deeply proud of his family and delighted in watching his grandchildren grow, offering stern
guidance, bicycles and steel wool. He was a long-time member of many vehicle organizations
especially the Bluebonnet Military Motor Pool and the Wheelmen (high-wheel bikes). Larry will be
remembered for his skill in fixing anything; from a simple electrical lamp, restoring a vintage tricycle,
to surveying a driveway--and his uncanny ability to befriend every single occupant of any room he
walked into. A graveside memorial service will be held at Magnolia Cemetery (Montrose Blvd) on
Friday June 13 celebrating a life well-lived and a man deeply loved. He will be dearly missed by all
who knew him.
