Kenneth Ray Schultz's Obituary
Kenneth Ray (Cotton) Schultz passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 in Houston, Texas, at the age of 82. He was born September 21, 1934 in Charleston, Texas. He was a member of Clay Road Baptist Church and former member of Long Point Baptist Church. Kenneth was an ordained minister and had a nursing home ministry for 45 years. He lived in Knoxville, Tennessee, and worked at Union Carbide in Quality Control, where he inspected the Moon Box that was used to collect rocks when the astronauts landed on the moon. The box is now on display at the Smithsonian Institute. While in Knoxville, Kenneth served on the Volunteer Rescue Squad and also played on the Union Carbide baseball team. He was employed for 32 years at Cameron Iron Works and retired from Groth Corporation.
Kenneth loved hunting, archery, religious and country-western music, teaching Bible classes, reading his Bible, telling jokes, his little yellow truck, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed watching cowboy movies and was a fan of the Oilers, Aeros, Rockets, Astros and Texans. He placed Second in the Texas State Archery Tournament in Austin, Texas in 1958.
Kenneth was a loving husband to Geraldine (Gerry) Carney Schultz, his wife of 61 years; a devoted father to his children, Kimberly, Courtney, and Jeffrey. Also left to cherish his memory is his sister and her husband, Anna and Al Cook; sisters-in-law, Ruth Schultz and Diane Carney Tyra; grandchildren, Bridgette, Colin, and Greg; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Logan and Bessie Schultz; mother and father in-law, Woodrow and Lola Carney; daughter, Cathy Lynn Stockton; brother, Weldon Schultz; brother-in-law, Glenn Carney.
As per Kenneth’s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. His contagious smile and positive attitude will always be remembered.
