Kenneth Monroe's Obituary
Kenneth Monroe departed to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 25, 2018.He died at home after battling prostate and kidney cancer.
Ken was born January 20, 1935 in Natchitoches, LA. Days after high school graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served 4 years in the Korean War. In civilian life his profession was sales for which he had a natural talent with his quick wit and charm. After coming to Houston in 1972 he became Agency Director of Mission Life Insurance. Later he completed an Associate of Arts degree at Houston Community College and went into commercial real estate until he retired in 1995.
Ken was one of the few civilians to complete Army Ranger Training, Mountain Phase, which he achieved in 1977. He remained an ardent military supporter and enjoyed combat shooting as well as golf.
Ken was a committed disciple of Jesus Christ and his love of the Lord and Bible study were the hallmarks of his life. He was known for his integrity, humility and loyalty. He loved his family and friends, his church and pastor and his country.
He is preceded by his parents, Aubrey and Gertrude Monroe, and brother Earl Joe Monroe. He is survived by his soul-mate and wife Linda of 45 years, and five children from a previous marriage:Cynthia and Steven Monroe, Jennie(Mike) Elliott, Pamela (Ken) Gibson, and James (Shannon) Monroe; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held December 4 at 12:00 at Bethel Church of Houston, 825 Bering Drive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Pine Valley Bible Church Benevolence Fund, 4101 Grimes Street, Houston, Tx, 77087
