Julia Nieves Gomez's Obituary
Julia Nieves Gomez, 87, of Houston, TX sadly passed away on February 18, 2023, surrounded by her family. Julia was born to the late Rudolfo and Bernardita (Trujillo) Ortiz on August 5, 1935, in Aurora, NM. She was raised at Los Guajalotes Ranch and in 1948 moved to Moriarty, NM, where she graduated from Moriarty High School.
Julia made many friends and acquaintances, and the love of God and her family filled her heart with joy. Julia spent her time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, who were all her beloved treasures. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Gomez; brothers, Leroy, Frank and Rudolfito Ortiz; and brothers-in-law, Alfonso Apodaca and Carlos Sigala.
Julia is survived by her children; Theresa Gomez (Jay) Gosch, Leonard (Mariann) Gomez, and Margie (Ed) Lau; her siblings, Alfonso (Delia) Ortiz, Esabel Sigala, Cecilia (Cal) Baca, Rudy (Mildred) Ortiz, Dimas (Jane) Ortiz, Modesto (Norma) Ortiz, Connie Apodaca, Johnny (Jeanie) Ortiz, Martha (Frank) Baca, Eddie (Joann) Ortiz; sisters-in-law, Jean and Virgina Ortiz; her grandchildren, Meagan (Michael) LaCour, Brandon (Gloria) Lau, Samantha Gomez (Denzil) Williams, Anthony Lau, Gabriel (Yolanda) Argo, Bernadette (Jacob) Bernal, Savanna (Christopher) Collins and Justin (Kenzi) Gosch; and her great-grandchildren, Miles, Jacob, Christian, Khloe, Monroe, Nicolai, Jemmah, Jayce, Joseph, Deliah and Melrose.
Please join us in celebrating her life on Thursday, February 23,2023 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church 9900 Stella Link Rd, Houston, TX 77025. The viewing will be at 10:00 AM, Rosary at 10:30 AM, followed by Mass at 11:00 AM.
