Joyce Marie Jackson's Obituary
Joyce was a bright and beautiful soul who was born on November 7,1946 in Opelousas, Louisiana to the parents of George and Edmonia Lewis. She was the baby out of 7 kids.
Joyce grew up in Opelousas, Louisiana where her life of Christianity started at an early age and she was baptized at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. Cephus J. Boswell. During her life Joyce found a passion for playing basketball while completing her education at Jefferson High in 1954. As time went by, she later moved her family to Houston, Texas in 1973 where she later married her husband Rev. Joseph Jackson in 1978.
As a devoted Christian Joyce lived her life in a Godly manner. On June 20,2025 God saw fit for her to join The Kingdom. At the age of 78 surrounded by her lovely family, Joyce passed away peacefully as God saw fit it was time to pick her flower.
A vibrant and loving daughter, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother-mother. She was preceded to heaven by her parents George & Edmonia Lewis beloved husband, Rev. Joseph Jackson, daughter Lisa Holmes, grandson Joesph, and siblings Catherine, Mary-lou, Annie Mae and Arthur.
Her loving memories is left to be cherished by her siblings Edmonia and George Jr, her beautiful children Katina (Fred), Kenneth, Christopher, Farren, and ReGuina grandchildren, Tanganekia, LaQuana (Tranita), Willie, Kuttino Sr.,DeMesshia, Tenea, Daveone, Tamara, Demond, Tyrece, Latoya, Lamarcus, Tyler and Kamerun with a host of great grandkids and nieces and nephews.
Joyce was an undeniable spirit who never met a stranger, her light shined brightly in every room she entered. She was deeply committed to her faith and her church community, and known for her infectious smile, warm spirit, and unwavering kindness. Joyce touched the lives of everyone she met. Her energy and passion for life will never be forgotten. Though her time with us might seem short, her legacy of love, compassion, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Rest in paradise dear Joyce Marie Jackson. Your radiance and love will forever echo in our hearts.
