Jose Agustin Gonzalez's Obituary
"On Tuesday, May 11, 1948 a special child, Jose “Joe” Agustin Gonzalez, was born. Also, in 1948, Nascar was introduced, which was his absolute favorite pastime. On Friday, February 23, 2018, he passed away peacefully, age 69, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was a caring man, with a kind heart, who always looked out for others. As the oldest brother, of six children, he always helped with the cooking, cleaning, homework and getting his brothers and sisters ready for school. He served in the army for one tour and returned to start a family of his own. He was a happy person and always had a smile. He was the kind of person who never knew a stranger. He loved to talk and visit with people. He loved music and dancing, especially with the love of his life, Becky. He was happiest when he was cooking or holding a baby. When he did cook, he cooked for an army, whether it was for two people or ten. When one of the babies was fussy or crying, Joe would hold them and was able to calm them every time. That is just the loving touch he had. He cared for everyone and everything. He even took leftovers to feed the birds and strays. He was a hard worker his entire life, receiving acknowledgement throughout his career, starting with the golden hammer in high school. Upon retirement, he took over creating his social circle in the neighborhood. He would make his rounds, visiting with everyone, while he walked Leona. He loved all animals and petted his cherished Frankie so much, that his right ear now flops. Everywhere he went, he was known and admired, and as such, he will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his father, Agustin R. Gonzalez, mother, Esperanza Ortiz, and brother, Juan Francisco Gonzalez. He is survived by his wife, Becky Gonzalez; his son, Edward Gonzalez, wife Tabitha, and their children, Bryan A. Gonzalez, Kasey A. Gonzalez, Trevor M. Gonzalez and Parker E. Gonzalez, his son Agustin J. Gonzalez III, wife Tammy, and their children, Sarah M. Saenz; Nicole L. Gonzalez and Agustin D. Gonzalez IV, his son, Christopher A. Tawater, wife ZuZu, and their son, Paul Agustin Tawater, his sister, Carmen Rodriguez, her sons, Michael Rodriguez; Christopher Rodriguez and Steven and Michelle Rodriguez and their daughter Karisma Rodriguez, his sister, Esperanza Garza, and her three daughters, Jennifer Garza-Payne and husband Ryan Payne; Kristina Garza and her son Jeremias Nino, Angela Garza and her son Bryce Davis, his brother, Gerardo Gonzalez, wife JoAnna and their two sons, Kyle Gonzalez and Joseph Gonzalez, and his brother, Albert Gonzalez, wife Donna, and their son, Justin Gonzalez, and a host of other family members and friends."
