John Lewis Bowen, Jr.'s Obituary
John Lewis Bowen, Jr. was called home on July 3, 2016, in Houston, Texas. He was born on January 3, 1926 in EL Campo, Texas, to parents John and Lillian (Shackelford) Bowen. John graduated from El Campo High School in 1943. He also served in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1946. John attended Baylor University and the University of Houston where he studied pharmaceutical medicine. John was a member of Lazybrook Baptist Church for over 30 years where he proudly served as deacon, taught Sunday School, and sang in the church choir.
John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Doris Jean Bowen, daughters, Penny Mustachia and Pamela Ruth Bowen, son, John Paul Bowen and his wife, Joan, step-daughters, Carlita Stratton, Mia Stratton, step-sons, Edward Stratton and his wife, Sachiko and Gary Stratton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, neighbors and friends.
