Jerome (Jerry) Michael Lebo's Obituary
Jerome (Jerry) Michael Lebo, 80, of Spring, TX passed away on March 25, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born in Streator, Ill, on January 10, 1944 to Donald and Demetra Lebo (Streky). He attended St. Anthony Elementary School and Streator Township High School in Streator, Ill. He graduated with Honors from University of Missouri @ Rolla (now Missouri University of Science and Technology) with a B.S. in Civil Engineering degree and was commissioned as an Army 2nd Lt. (via ROTC) in June, l967. While in school, he was admitted to Chi Epsilon (Civil Engineering Honor Society) and served as President of the Society of American Engineers. He also was a proud member of Theta Xi fraternity, where he served as Rush Chairman and Treasurer.
Following graduation, Jerry began his career with Shell Oil Company where he met and fell in love with Merri Schroeter. The two became engaged after a short period and married six months later on Dec. 30, 1967. Two weeks later, they moved to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where Jerry completed his basic training. While this occurred during the Vietnam War, they were fortunate and delighted to find that their next assignment was to Kitzingen, Germany.
In 1970, after returning from Germany, Jerry and Merri moved to the Chicago area, Lombard specifically, where Jerry resumed his career with Shell Oil. After only two years, they were transferred to what would be their final destination, Houston, TX. It was there they were blessed with two lovely daughters, Melissa (45) and Pipere (40).
Jerry balanced family time and his career with a love of golf, which he shared with his golf buddies, starting at Raveneaux in the 1970’s, and then moving over to Champions more recently. After leaving Shell, Jerry was blessed by his employment with Mewbourne Oil Company which included many exciting travel opportunities over the course of his work, some of which Merri was able to accompany him following her retirement. Jerry delighted in being Poppy (grandfather) to Addison and Graham. It thrilled him to enjoy a round of golf with Graham and he enjoyed any chance he got to cheer Addie on at the soccer field.
Jerry is survived by Merri, his wife of 56 years; daughter, Melissa Parsons, husband Andy, and grandchildren, Addison and Graham, all of The
Woodlands, TX; daughter, Pipere Lebo and husband Nick Biedlingmaier of Leander, TX; brother, Rick Lebo and wife Sherrie Lebo of Nederland TX; and sister, Lynette Rose of Chicago, Il.
