Mr. Harrell Edgar Rudolph's Obituary
Harrell Edgar Rudolph went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Harrell was born to Harol and Stella Rudolph on November 21, 1937 in Hobart, Oklahoma. With his brother Robert and sister Anna Marie, the family moved to Antelope, Texas where he lived his formative years. He fondly remembered Antelope as his cherished childhood home. Years later the family moved to Abilene, and eventually to Lubbock, where he graduated from Lubbock High School in 1955 and Texas Tech University in 1963.
Harrell met Janice Sue Bradley through mutual friends, and they were married on June 21,1957. He cherished Janice beyond measure, standing by her side through every joy and challenge life brought them. The couple welcomed four children across four decades: Hal Bradley Rudolph (1959), Tamra Lynn Rudolph (1966), Joel Mark Rudolph (1971), and Kimberly Michelle Rudolph (1980). Harrell was a devoted father and coach, encouraging hard work and hustle in all his children's activities.
Harrell was known and loved for his quick wit and infectious laughter, always ready with a joke and a warm smile. His knack for storytelling was cherished by family and friends as he recalled anecdotes of going to school with Buddy Holly, his service in the Marine Reserves, and the many outrageous happenings at the grocery store he and Kenneth worked at on Hollywood and Vine in Los Angeles. He graduated from Texas Tech University and was a proud supporter of the Red Raiders.
Harrell’s passion was for preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the path to salvation. His life’s work was for his church, which included First Baptist Church of Klein and Sovereign Grace Fellowship of Houston.
Harrell was preceded in death by his parents Harol and Stella Rudolph, brother Robert Rudolph, sister Anna Marie Tatum, and precious daughter Tamra Rudolph Goedecke. He is survived by wife Janice Sue Rudolph, son Brad Rudolph, son Joel Rudolph and wife Amanda, and daughter Kimberly Whitaker and husband John, grandchildren Justin Rudolph, Kennedy Diaz-Pate, Connor Rudolph, Chloe Rudolph, Calla Rudolph, Gabrielle Feletin, Calum Whitaker, and great- grandson Santiago Rudolph-Araya.
