In Loving Memory of Evon Rasberry
Early Life and Education
Evon Rasberry, a woman of grace, was born on January 12, 1942, in Longstreet, Louisiana, to the late Annie Mae Robinson and Courtney Robinson. She received her education from Longstreet School.
Faith and Family
Evon accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Sulpher Springs Baptist Church. She later met the love of her life, Arthur Rasberry, and in 1959 they united in marriage. Afterward, they joined Charity Chapel C.M.E. Church, where Evon was a devoted member until her health prevented her from actively participating in worship. She served faithfully as a trustee and cherished being part of the worship community.
Dedication to Service
Evon was affectionately known for her work as a housekeeper and nanny, serving the families of Jim Joys, Steward Briscoe, Tammie Latin, and Carl Rice. She made a significant impact by helping raise their children and managing household responsibilities.
Aunt Mut: Family and Wisdom
Evon was lovingly given the name “Aunt Mut” by one of her aunts. Known for her joyful yet stern nature, Aunt Mut always looked out for children and family. One of her favorite sayings was, “And you can trust me on that.”
Family Members Preceded in Death
Evon is preceded in death by her parents, Annie Mae and Courtney Robinson; sisters Martha (Albert) Powell, Louise (George) Jones, Helen (Curits) Robinson, Francis (Bernestine) Williams; brothers Courtney Robinson Jr., Jessie (Mildred) Robinson, Tolbert (RC) Robinson, Calvin (Beverly) Robinson, Palmer (Ruth) Robinson, Clerence (Ginger) Robinson; and one daughter, Cynthia Rasberry.
Surviving Family and Loved Ones
Evon leaves to cherish her memory her brothers James T. Robinson and Cleavon E. Robinson, children Eugene Robinson, Arthur (Darlene) Rasberry, and step-daughter Wanda Lott. Her grandchildren Cartez (Shara) Rasberry, Cornell Rasberry, LaCordrick (Ebony) Wilson, Andrew (Kyambrie) Williams, and LaDarius (Kya) Rasberry. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Michaela, Tredarius, Kamryn, Kaleb, Kennedy, Cartez Jr., Cornell Jr.,Chris, JLenn, Mason, Laydon and Ambriel great-great-grandchild Colton and a host of nieces and nephews.
