Eugenia "Genie" Marie Conner's Obituary
Eugenia Marie Dekkers Conner passed away suddenly on September 20, 2019. She was born in Houston, TX on July 8, 1945. She attended Holy Ghost Catholic Elementary School and Marian Christian High School in Houston. Genie was predeceased in death by parents Leo Joseph Dekkers and Lisette Adele Dekkers of Houston and sister Clara Lee Dekkers of Houston. She is survived by husband, Lonnie Clark Conner of Houston and sons Donald W. Avera Jr and Christopher Key Avera, both of Houston. She also left behind two grandchildren Margaret Adelia Avera and Anne Lisette Avera both of Portland, Oregon. Her surviving siblings are sisters

Early on in her career she worked as a kindergarten teacher then spent the rest of her career in the banking field in Houston.
Genie was totally dedicated to loving and raising her sons, supporting her granddaughters and to her husband throughout her life.
She was accomplished in smocking, stained glass, and sewing.
Her antique booth gave her great pleasure. In addition, she was a wonderful cook, homemaker, gardener, and did volunteer smocking work for some area hospitals. In recent years she began to travel. The trip she enjoyed most was going to Holland to see her ancestor’s home with her three sisters.
A funeral mass will be held on October 10th at 10:30am at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 6921 Chetwood Dr., Houston, TX 77081. Reception will follow the service with comital service at 2:00pm at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, TX 77023.
