Eloise Mixon's Obituary
Eloise Chambliss Mixon, age 90, was welcomed into the kingdom of heaven on September 25, 2015. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on March 30, 1925 to Verda and Odell Prosch Chambliss. Eloise spent the first half of her life being a successful wife, mother and homemaker to her husband and three children. She and Ed moved to Houston, Texas in 1971 where Eloise eventually opened boutiques in several locations including Memorial, Sharpstown Mall and Westwood Mall. She was a successful business woman as well as a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Eloise is the beloved mother of Odell (Jerry) Waid of Birmingham, Alabama, Mickey (Lynda) Mixon of Sugar Land, Texas and Karen (Dwight) Cook of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by Grandchildren, Misty (Coniel) Harris of Spanish Fort, Alabama, Laura Lynn (Mark) Love of Birmingham, Alabama, Grandson, Ted (Bonnie) Mixon of Rosenberg, Texas, Granddaughter Ashley (Randy) DeLay of Sugar Land, Texas, Grandson Kit Mixon of Houston, Texas, Granddaughter Christin (Jason) Zito of Nashville, Tennessee, Granddaughter Rebecca Cook of Houston, Texas, 9 Great Grandchildren, a sister, Christine Chambliss of Birmingham, Alabama and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Edward Dekalb Mixon, her parents Verda and Odell Prosch Chambliss, a sister Argentina “Tina” Hall, and a brother Alton V. Chambliss.
Her sweet smile, loving words and kindness will be sorely missed by all who knew her. A celebration of her life, open to all friends and relatives, will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, September 29, 2015, Houston Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038.
