Ed Sloan's Obituary
Archie Edgar “Ed” Sloan, 84, of Humble entered into the loving arms of his Savior on April 8, 2015 with his dear wife Gail by his side. He was born in Pelly, Texas on September 8, 1930 to Parents, Louis Dixon Sloan and Ima Louise Simmons Sloan. Ed proudly served his country in The United States Marine Corps, where he served for three years. He enjoyed fishing, singing and playing his guitar. He loved his family, his church family and his Sunday School Class. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Dixon and Ima Louise Simmons Sloan and brothers, Melvin Dale Sloane and David Allan Sloane. In his early years, Ed worked in the oil fields and with Gulf States Utilities. He had retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Plant having worked there for 37 ½ years. His most enjoyable time was when all of his family got together on Christmas Eve. He is survived by his wife, Gail Adams Sloan; daughters, Rita Johnson and her husband Cecil, Nita Wright, Tina Webb and Neva DeSpain and her husband Curtis; granddaughter, Brandi Ranucci and her husband Chris; step-son Brent Nall and his wife Rozanne; step-daughter, Tara Worsham and Cody Russell; step-grandchildren, Michael, Allison, Alyx, Austin Nall, Savannah Worsham & Avery and Blakely Russell; step-great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Kamryn and Kortney Ranucci; sisters, Jeanette Lambeth, Betty Lou Bell and Patsy Tullos and her husband Leon. Ed is also survived by many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 10, 2015 from 5 o’clock in the evening until 8 o’clock at Ed’s home church, Grace Community Baptist Church in Dayton. A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 11 o’clock in the morning at Grace Community Baptist Church located at 8073 FM 1960, Dayton, TX 77535 where the Rev. Wayne Hardin and Rev. John Garlington will officiate. Ed will be laid to rest in the Montague Cemetery in Cleveland Texas immediately following the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Eds nephews, Garlen Yeager, Jeff Yeager, Troy Tullos, Todd Tullos, Royce Lambeth, Melvin “Buddy” Sloane and James Sloane.
