Dawn Ruth Goff's Obituary
Dawn Ruth Goff (Ziegler), 63, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, surrounded by her children.
Dawn was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Perry Eugene Ziegler and Deloris Ruth Ziegler. She proudly served in the United States Army, where she trained as a medical specialist. After her service, she worked as a nurse in the Texas Medical Center before dedicating herself fully to raising her family as a stay-at-home mom.
Dawn was a true character - hilarious, easy to talk to, and effortlessly charming, with a sharp intelligence that made people feel both welcomed and entertained. She had a gift for cooking and caring for others, and she was especially known for her blackberry cobbler and her infamous grilled cheese - the kind of comfort food people remembered long after the last bite. She also loved animals, and her presence will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her, including her beloved cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry Eugene Ziegler and Deloris Ruth Ziegler.
Dawn is survived by her spouse, Larry Dodd; her children, Amanda Ruth Ortega, Jorge Ortega (Laura), Angela Dodd Chingos (Matthew), Chase Dodd (Hailey), Kayla Dodd, and Kari Dodd; her grandchildren, Jorge Ortega II, Jacob Perry Ortega, Marriah Sutton, Claire Chingos, Mia Dodd, Ashlyn Dodd, Destiny Diaz, Joshwa Mendez, Daniel Mendez, Jayden Silva, Ethan Whitton, Chance Whitton; and her sisters, Terri Cook, Janice Stidham, and Toni Ziegler.
A visitation and service will be held Friday, March 6, 2026, from 4:00–7:00 PM at Rasberry Family Funeral Home.
