Darryl Lawrence Fawcett was born June 20, 1936, to Myrtle and Bill Fawcett in Hillsboro, Texas.
He attended Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, Texas graduating in 1954.
While attending the University of Houston, he met the woman of his dreams, Gloria Gene Duoto. They were married in Houston on July 3, 1957.
In 1967, driven by his passion for golf, Darryl moved his family to the Champions area in north
Houston. Darryl was a legend at Champions Golf Club where he was a stranger to no one. He
and Gloria became founding members of John Wesley United Methodist Church, where Darryl’s
welcoming spirit made everyone feel at home.
Professionally, Darryl’s drive and vision led him to establish the Deyo-Fawcett Insurance & Financial Services company. The firm grew from a small local agency to a well-respected business serving clients across Texas. Under his leadership, the company was recognized for innovative customer care and community outreach initiatives, including organizing golf tournaments and charity galas, and his love for bringing people together for a good cause. His early recognition by the Million Dollar Round Table was not only a testament to his skill, but also, to his unwavering integrity in every detail.
Darryl’s next venture was forming The Fawcett Group, continuing his vocation in the insurance
business. He partnered with his daughter, Jan, for 20 years, before successfully retiring at an
impressive 80 years of age.
As the youngest of eight children, Darryl cherished the bonds with his siblings. He was
renowned for organizing family gatherings. Cousins and relatives from near and far would
gather, to share memories and create new ones - a tradition that became an enduring memory
for all who attended.
To his family, Darryl was much more than just a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was
the heart of their gatherings, a source of wisdom and warmth whose presence will be deeply
missed, but forever treasured.
