Dahlia Perkins' Obituary
Dahlia Perkins, 96, passed away March 8, 2025 in Angleton, TX. Dahlia was born in Sagerton, TX, July 6, 1928. She called West Columbia, TX home for most of her life where she raised her two daughters Karla and Tonya. Many in West Columbia knew Dahlia through her years of teaching 4 th grade at West Columbia Elementary School. She later taught Home Economics at Columbia High School where her younger sister, Lois Peel (fondly referred to as Coach Knip) was head coach for basketball and track at
the same time.
Dahlia valued education and encouraged extra-curricular activities. She sewed cheerleading outfits and volunteered to drive students to out-of-town functions. She loved her community and enjoyed family worship time at Columbia Methodist Church. She valued teaching and was very sensitive to the welfare of her students. Dahlia deeply loved her 2 children, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and they adored her as well. Her interests consisted of playing bridge and/or hand and foot with her friends on a weekly basis, watching sports and game shows and family get togethers. Because of her genuine love of people and kindness to all, heaven will be an even brighter place.
Dahlia is preceded in death by her mother and daddy Arthur and Frieda Knipling, her youngest sister Lois Peel and her brother-in-law JB Toney. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Toney of Sagerton, TX, her daughters Karla Moffett of West Columbia and Tonya Williamson of Missouri City, TX, Grandchildren Kristina Sanders Moffett and Stephen Moffett of West Columbia and Shea Williamson, Brie Reyes and Summer Williamson of Houston, TX. Her surviving Great Grandchildren are Mason Sanders of
Friendswood, TX, Aiden Sanders of West Columbia, Maddox Williamson and Kollins Reyes of Houston, TX.
All are invited to attend the time of visitation and the funeral service that will be held at Columbia Methodist Church at 10am and 11am respectively on Thursday, March 13. Immediately after the funeral, a graveside service will take place across the street at Old Columbia Cemetery which will be followed by a reception at the church in the Fellowship Hall. Columbia Methodist Church is located at 315 S. 16 th Street, West Columbia, TX 77486. Flowers may be arranged through Flowers By Mary Lee in West Columbia.
