Growing up in a large and loving family, Charlotte was the sister of Andrew, Leroy, Paul, Lela Anne, Leonard, and Gloria Mattox. Her childhood was filled with the joy and camaraderie of her siblings, creating bonds that lasted throughout her life.
At an early age, Charlotte became a member of Pleasant Grove, where she first nurtured her faith and began her lifelong spiritual journey. Later, she became a dedicated member of Christian Tabernacle Church, now known as Inspire Church, where she remained a faithful congregant until she transitioned.
Charlotte found the love of her life in George Tate Sr., with whom she shared a beautiful and enduring relationship . Their union was blessed with three wonderful sons: George Tate Jr. (and his wife Tabatha), Jarvis Prather, and Tyson Prather. Charlotte's dedication to her family was unwavering; she was a nurturing and supportive mother who instilled strong values and a sense of purpose in her children. She was also a devoted stepmother to Sharon, Mary, and Charles Hines.
As a grandmother, "Maw Maw" Charlotte's heart was filled with immense pride and joy for her grandchildren: Charles Holiday, Jermaine Hines, Taylor Tate, Karina St. John, Jakwaelyn Prather, and Jude Prather. She cherished every moment spent with them, offering wisdom, love, and a warm presence that will be deeply missed.
