Charlie Wayne Hammond's Obituary
Charlie Wayne Hammond, 73 of Dublin, passed away August 10, 2014 after short illness at the home of his daughter in Katy, Texas. Mr. Hammond was born in Lyons, GA June 14, 1941 to the late Frankie Aaron and Louise Padgett Hammond.He grew up in Savannah, GA, a graduate from Groves High School. After serving in the Navy from 1959 - 1963, he was a musician until 1978. Mr. Hammond was front man with Ace Cannon and Ernest Tubb & the Texas Troubadours and appeared often on the Grand Ole Opry. After his music career he returned to Savannah in 1978 and resided there until 1986 when he moved to Dublin, GA. where he started a successful security company and eventually retired.
Mr. Hammond is survived by his daughter Jamie Dale Kincaid; grandsons, Colby and Caden Hammond all of Katy, TX.; sister, Brenda Hammond; nephew, Derrick “Rick” Roland, several aunts and cousins all of Dublin, GA.
Services will be held Monday, August 18, 2014 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon in the chapel of Houston National Cemetery Houston, TX. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
