Charles Edward Black Sr.'s Obituary
Charles Edward Black Sr. was born in Camden, TX on November 15, 1943. He was the oldest son of 10 children of Sam and Annie Mae Black. as a child they moved from Camden to Houston Tx in the Historic Studewood Community. where he attended school until he was drafted into the US Army, September 3 1968 and spent his first-year training at Fort Carson Colorado. before going to Vietnam. October 17,1969, He received an Honorable discharge as a SPC4 with Decoration, National Defense Service Medal, Combat infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze stars, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, and a Purple Heart.
Charles Loved His family and enjoyed working with his hands. outdoorsman at heart. Loved to fish, hunt and cook more than anything he loved being around his friends and grandkids. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
On November 13,2025 Charles Departed This Life. He his preceded in Death by His Father and Mother Sam and Annie McQueen Black, Sister Annie Deloris Smith, Brother Kelvin Black (baby brother), Youngest son Charles Edward Black Jr. one Grandson Christian Charles Thomas.
To cherish his memory, he leaves behind his wife Lula Black, Two daughters Tomyka Young, Georgina Black, one stepdaughter Lisa Thomas. one son Rev. Swahili C Thomas Margaret Thomas (wife) one Stepson Robert and Angel Thomas (wife). 15 Grandkids Kaityn Gates (Tomyka), Robyn Gordan/Hudson (Robert) Jonathan Thomas (Robert), Traveyon Thomas(Robert), Robert Jr, Victoria Thomas, Aveyon Major(Lisa) Jaylon Major (Lisa)Mariah Major(Lisa), Marcus Thomas (Swahili) Aaron Thomas(Swahili) Alania Thomas(Swahili), Tycee Williams( Georgina) Cinayia Patterson(Georgina) Terrence Patterson(Georgina). 8 Great grand kids Roman(Tycee) Brooklyn(Tycee) Raynard(Tycee), Remi(Cinayia) Zion(Marcus) Dreamlyn(Alania) Drayce(Alania). Seven sisters Arstella Darden, Jennetta Carter, Brenda Chaney, Georgia Furguson, Carolyn Black, Evelyn Black, Shephonia Eckford(Reginald) and a multitude of nephews and nieces ,Family and friends.
