Cecil Calloway Dodd's Obituary
Cecil Calloway Dodd, 86, of Houston passed away on February 27, 2016. He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Roseann Jeffries Dodd. Cecil proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Cecil was introduced to the love of his life, Roseann through an air force buddy who was dating one of her friends. Roseann was working as an elevator operator, and Cecil was stationed at Moses Lake, Washington with the United States Air Force. Their first date was at the roller skating rink, where they inevitably hit it off from the start. Roseann was only 17 at the time, and Cecil was preparing to ship out to England with the Airforce. After a short while of dating, they decided to get married, and 4 days after her 18th birthday, they were married on June 16th 1951 in Washington State. The rest is history. He is survived by his sons, Larry Dodd and his wife Dawn and Gary Dodd; grandchildren, Jeremy Dodd and wife Janelle, Sheri Watson and husband Joe, Michael Messel and wife Robin, Trina Echols and husband Chris, Rachel Sapkota and husband Harry, Andy Dodd, Amy Mazzo and husband Martin, Kari Dodd, Kayla Dodd, Angela Dodd, Chase Dodd, Amanda Ortega and Jorge Ortega; great-grandchildren, Anthony and Hailey Messel, Hannah and Savannah Echols, Ethan and Chance Whitton, Kaydence Dodd, Gauge Dodd, Madeline Watson, Briella Watson, Alaina Watson, Destiny Diaz, Jayden Silva, Daniel and Joshua Mendez and Jorge and Jacob Ortega, Christian Dodd, Blake Dodd, McKenzie Dodd and Martin Mazzo Honored to serve, as pallbearers are, Jeremy Dodd, Chase Dodd, Jorge Ortega, Matthew Chingos, Larry Dodd and Gary Dodd. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 5 o’clock in the evening until 8 o’clock in the chapel of Hardin Family Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 10:30 in the morning at the funeral home with Rev. Johnny Price officiating. Burial with full Military Honors will follow at Houston National Cemetery.
