Alton Ray Simmons Jr.'s Obituary
Alton "Ray" Simmons, Jr. of Houston passed away Saturday, December 12th, 2020 at the age of 63. He fought a short but brave battle with lung cancer. Ray will be remembered fondly as a loving son, protective brother, funny uncle, and loyal friend. He was a dedicated employee of Dril-Quip where he was employed for over 30 years. He was also a member of Second Baptist Church where he enjoyed volunteering and assisting with their Christmas festivities. He loved his dog Bella so very much and was a great dog dad. Ray was preceded in death by his father, Alton Ray Simmons, Sr. and his mother Rita B. Simmons. He is survived by his brother Robert Simmons and sister-in-law Robbin Simmons of Houston, along with many nieces and nephews. There will be a graveside service Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery on South Prewett St. in Magnolia, Mississippi where he will be laid to rest alongside his parents. Ray will forever be remembered for his unique personality and for the bravery and courage he showed during his cancer battle. The family takes comfort in knowing that he is now in heavenly peace.
