Allan Garner's Obituary
Allan Garner, native Houstonian, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, October 18th,
2024, at the age of 67. He was a devoted son and brother, preceded in death by his
parents Otis and Anna Belle Garner, brothers Stevie and Billy Reed and niece Nikki
Vohl. Allan is survived by his niece, Laura Reed and cousin Jack Garner.
Allan, born July 10, 1957, was a friend to many. He graduated from Jersey Village High
School and pursued a Computer Science degree from Sam Houston University. After
beginning his career at Texas Instruments, Allan would return to the family business,
joining his father and spending the next 30 years bringing beautiful outdoor spaces to
prominent Houstonians.
From a young age, Allan developed an appreciation for family and the outdoors,
fostered by his parents, Ottis and Anna Belle. Married for 50 years, they instilled in their
children the importance of community and the joy of shared experiences. Many
memories were made during trips to Leakey, Texas, where they would spend time
surrounded by family, friends, and hill country views.
Allan's love for the area was evident in everything he did. But more than the love Allan
had for Leakey is the love and enjoyment Allan received from inviting others to
experience Leakey – hunting on the ranch, cutting cedar, four-wheeling, sitting in the
river, stargazing or playing cards late into the night. Allan found peace in nature and the
company of others.
Beyond Leakey, Allan sought adventure, leading him to explore new places and create
lasting memories. Over the years he enjoyed trips to Alaska, hunting and four-wheeling
trips to Colorado, snow skiing and fishing in Arkansas and Canada, all with friends.
Allan's voice, laughter and unwavering presence will be deeply missed.
We kindly invite you to share in remembering Allan’s life, which has left a lasting impact
on our hearts.
A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM on
Friday, November 1, 2024, at the chapel of Raspberry Family Funeral Home, 9034
Long Point Road, Houston, TX 77055. A burial will be held at Forest Park Lawndale
Cemetery in Houston, TX, following the service at 12:00 p.m.
