John was my college roommate, ex brother-in-law and a dear friend. John was a strong athlete and very competitive. I washed our white gym clothes with shoes with red laces. Everything came out pink. We got a lot of laughs in weight lifting class at UT until we lifted more weight than anyone else could. We had pushup contests in our room at UT, where we would do 1 pushup, then 2, then 3, etc, in order. Almost everyone gave up at about 25 sets, except John. He would make it to 56 sets. John also loved to fish. He made several trips to the mountains of Colorado with my brother, Donald, Don Williamson, and me. While the rest of us rode motorcycles, John fished. We always had trout for supper. John also taught himself to play a 12-string guitar and sat in many pickin & grinnin sessions with Donald and others. Although I was out of touch with John over the past several years, I have many fond memories of when our lives intertwined.
My sincere condolences to Cathy and the rest of John's family.
Love,
Jim Lee
