Mildred "Millie" Seline

Millie Seline, also known as Mildred, peacefully passed away on October 18, 2023, at the age of 98 in Kingwood, Texas. She was born on January 31, 1925, in Prarie du Chein, Wisconsin, to her parents Zowel and Marie (Curly and Nettie) Prew. Millie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry P. Seline, her son, Bob Seline and her brother, Bob Prew, along with her sister-in-law, Helen Everson and her husband, Larry, and brother-in-law, Charles Seline and his wife, Virginia. She was also preceded in death by her nephew, Dick Seline, and her nieces, Dianna Nondorf and Terri Connor. Millie was a graduate from Seneca High School in Seneca, WI in 1942. She enjoyed playing the clarinet in the school’s marching band. She then had a remarkable career during World War II. She served as a "Rosie the Riveter" when she'd moved to Rockford, Illinois, to work at a defense plant. She then worked for Allis Chalmers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Two years later she moved to Racine, WI to live with her aunt and uncle and he helped her get a position at Johnson Wax in Racine. It was there, at a USO dance, that she met Harry, the love of her life. They married on August 28, 1948, right after Harry's graduation from Marquette University. Millie then started working at Oster and later on at an elementary school until she started her family in 1955. In 1974, she returned to work at Christy's Department Store in West Racine and retired in 1984. Millie's faith was an important aspect of her life. She was a long-term member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Racine, WI, where her children, Bob and Nancy attended school. After moving to a new home, she attended St. Paul's Parish until 2005. She then became a member of St. Martha's Catholic Church after moving to Kingwood, Texas. In her free time, Millie enjoyed playing golf with Harry, exploring different golf courses across Wisconsin. They were also members of the local Moose Lodge No. 437. Millie actively participated in various organizations, including the Wisconsin Electric EMBA Auxiliary, St. Edward's Women's Club, Catholic Junior League, and Ladies Schafskopf Club. She loved playing bridge with her friends and had a passion for flower gardening and crocheting. After Harry's retirement, they traveled the United States in their travel trailer, spending winters in Florida, Texas, and Arizona to be with family and friends. In 2005, they relocated to Kingwood, Texas, to be closer to their daughter, Nancy, and her family. Millie resided at Landon Ridge Assisted Living since 2021, where she peacefully passed away after a brief illness. A Mass will be held in Millie's honor at St. Martha's Catholic Church in Kingwood, Texas, on Friday, November 3rd, at 10:30 am, with a viewing beginning at 10 am. Following the Mass, she will be laid to rest at Houston National Cemetery at 2 pm. All family and friends are welcome to attend a luncheon at Kingwood Methodist Church immediately following the Mass. Millie Seline is survived by her daughter, Nancy Meek and her husband, David, as well as her sister-in-law, Jan Prew. She is also survived by her nephew, Jim Nondorf, and nieces Kathy Thomas and her husband, Paul, Deb Seline, Becky Idstein and her husband, Rob, Sandy Dieck and her husband Dan. Additionally, Millie is survived by her nephews Paul Prew and his partner, Lynn , Dan Prew, and her grandsons, Brandon Meek and his wife Jessica, Bryan Meek and his wife, Brandi, Jason Meek and his partner Steve Davis and great grandchildren Tyler, Addison, Ella, Kailee, and Haley Meek. Millie Seline's impact on her family and community will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
