David Ross Hyde

David Ross Hyde January 3, 1957 – November 14, 2024 David Ross Hyde, 67, beloved husband, father, son, brother and Baba, peacefully departed this world on November 14, 2024, at his home in Kingwood, Texas with his loving wife Karen by his side. David was born January 3, 1957, in Houston, Texas to Lee Hyde and the late Margaret Carter Hyde. The oldest of four children, David grew up in Weslaco where he developed a passion for the great outdoors. Fishing from South Padre to Cabo to Belize to Washington and bow hunting from South Texas to Africa, David found comfort and peace in nature. After attending Sam Houston State in Huntsville, David had a long and successful career in outside sales in the oil refinery and chemical plant industry, working for Baker Tanks for more than 20 years. He earned the respect and friendship of both clients and co-workers. David organized and planned dozens of successful fishing tournaments for clients and was always the first one packed and ready for a hunting trip. David loved live music, which was evident by the dozens of band t-shirts he wore faithfully. His love extended to his four-legged friends, and they loved him. His faithful pooch Trixie passed away just one week before David and greeted him as they made their way across the bridge together. But David’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife Karen Crawford Hyde, who enjoyed several years of adventures together before his passing. David was a loving and dedicated father to his children Sydni Hyde of Houston, Texas and son Mason Hyde and wife Kelly of Denver, Colorado, who were devoted to him as well, standing close by his side through his lengthy illness. David’s children would like to express their deep appreciation for the devotion, compassion, and loving care from his wife Karen in the final years of his life. David loved his stepsons Matthew Roberts of Ocean Park, Washington, and Drew Roberts and wife Tuba of Houston, Texas, and he adored his grandchildren Zakariya and Noah, who affectionately called him Baba. David will be deeply missed by his father, Lee Hyde of Weslaco, sister Beverly and husband Melvin Terveen of Weslaco, brother Stuart Hyde of Dallas, the mother of his children Pam Heiner Hyde of Kingwood, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who were touched by his funny, kind and gentle spirit. David is preceded in death by his mother Margaret Carter Hyde and little sister Martha Hass-Hernandez. To honor the life of David, a memorial will be held at Second Baptist Church in Kingwood on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 1:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at Back Pew Brewing in Porter at 4:00 pm. As David requested, together, we will toast to a life well lived. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to be sent to the Coastal Conservation Association, www.joincca.org.
