A. Glenn Land

Glenn was preceded in death by his second wife Becky, spouse Betty and their son Patrick. Glenn is survived by his adult children, Carolyn Bastian and husband Bob Bastian, Greg Land and wife Kimberly Land, and Lisa Land, along with grandchildren William Bastian and wife Bonnie Stuffelbeam, Andrew Bastian, Mike Land and wife Stephanie Land, Lauren Kastner and husband Scott Kastner, great grandchildren Madelyn Kastner, Luke Kastner and Aubrey Land. Glenn was born a single child to Mildred and A. Archie Land in Shawnee, Oklahoma on September 17, 1931. His parents divorced when he was two years old. Glenn was raised by his mother and grandmother in Denison, Texas. Glenn excelled in his studies and athletics, played saxophone in the band and played on the Denison High School Tennis team. He earned admission to Denison High School Hall of Fame in 2001. His accomplishments led him to the University Oklahoma University on a Tennis scholarship where he graduated with honors holding a bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Petroleum engineering. During his tenure at OU Glenn also Played Varsity Tennis and performed with the University marching band. Shortly after his graduation Glenn enlisted and served In the U.S. Air Force fulfilling his duty on posts in California, Texas and Korea. During this time in the service, Glenn represented his country playing tennis for the Air Force internationally. Glenn gained civilian employment with Mobil Oil, working in Venezuela South America, then in the U.S hired on with Schlumberger working in Rock Springs, Wyoming, Glendive, Montana and then was rewarded with a transfer to the Schlumberger corporate headquarters in Houston. While attending The University of Oklahoma he met and married Elizabeth (Betty) Bondurant. They had four children, Carolyn, Greg, Lisa and Patrick. Betty died in a car accident very shortly after they built a home in the Norchester subdivision in Houston, Texas. Glenn retired from Schlumberger in 1974 and formed Tennis Management services, specializing in tennis court construction and consulting services for over 20 years. Glenn played tennis with son Greg in the USTA National Father-Son doubles tournament. They played the last tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio and during that time he and Becky decided to marry in their hometown of Denison, Texas with their friends after reacquainting during their 30 year high school reunion. Glenn's technical expertise then led him to serve on the Water board in a planning and development role that he enjoyed working with into his nineties.
