My friend and mentor

Jim and I were colleagues in the U.S. Attorney's Office in Houston. Beyond that, we were good friends and often socialized outside of the office.
Jim was someone I looked up to: literally and figuratively. In court, he was an outstanding advocate representing the United States, In the confines of the office, he could be serious and all business, with an indomitable spirit. He was a great mentor and role model to those who were smart enough to learn law and emulate his work ethic. Outside of the office, Jim was one of the funniest friend I ever had the privilege of knowing. He constantly knew how to make me laugh, and that was no small feat. I will miss him greatly.
Janice and I extend our sincere condolences to Pam and Lisa, and we wish Jim eternal peace

Jim meant everything to me. He was not just a mentor; he was my best friend, a second father, a protector, and someone I deeply cherished. Jim taught me the art of being a prosecutor and was undoubtedly the finest litigator I have ever worked alongside. Beyond his professional excellence, he was among the kindest and most genuine people I have ever known. His caring nature and infectious humor brought joy to everyone who knew him. He was always there for me during my times of need.
As a husband and father, Jim was truly exceptional. Pam and Lisa, my heart goes out to both of you during this difficult time. Pam, your kindness and unwavering generosity have always left a profound impact on me. You all were my family, sharing countless wonderful and horrible moments in my life.
I will always carry Jim’s memory with me. The bond we shared was beyond words; it was ineffable. He will be dearly missed.
With love,
Julia
I have known Jim when I started teaching at the Alliance Française in Houston. I really enjoyed him as a student. He was inquisitive and had a great sense of humour. We soon became friends and would meet with Pam at different restaurants where we would have thoroughly enjoyed conversations about politics and other topics. I will always keep fond memories of Jim. Martyn and Hazel join me in transmitting our condolences. May he rest in peace. Amen.
